The founding families of Heritage Academy gathered in September of 1999 to discuss the need for a Christian school focused on “Parent Based Education”. Heritage Academy began classes in the fall of 2002 serving twelve families and twenty-two students. As a charter member of NAUMS, Heritage Academy received certification in 2005. From its inception, Heritage Academy has focused on offering education which partners with parents and prepares college worthy witnesses for Christ. Heritage earned accreditation status with COGNIA (formerly AdvancED) in June of 2021. Today, Heritage Academy, a non-denominational Christian school, rents space from Higher Ground Church (2900 Barberry Avenue) in Columbia.
